Why I Capture
Growing up I would spend hours looking through family photo albums. I enjoyed having tangible memories, so I started taking pictures. I have plenty of old shoe boxes filled with them and love going back to revisit those memories.
My love for photography really took off in high school when I took photography classes. That's where I learned the basics of photography, how to work a camera and even develop film! Once I was out of high school, I maintained taking pictures wherever and whenever-- it became a passion.
A couple years later I married my high school sweetheart. I worked in special education for a while, but when our first was born, I stayed home with him. I loved capturing pictures of him and felt the need to provide others with keepsake photos and freeze the moments that can quickly fade away.
How I Capture
Be ready to move during your session! I will have you walking, sitting, sometimes even running-- (unless we've discussed otherwise)! My photos can be described as documentary, story telling, emotive, bold, yet timeless. I love, love, LOVE black and whites that give off a nostalgic vibe. I promise to give you frame worthy photos while also capturing authentic moments.
When it comes to my job on your wedding day or the day of your session, I consider myself to be professional, yet I can easily go with the flow. I'm there to take pretty pictures, but I also value your relationship with one another and the trust you put in me to capture your special moments.
Behind the lens
When I'm not behind my camera, I love spending time with my family-- my husband and our two kids. Whether it's being outside in the backyard, going to a car show, or out to ice cream in a VW, I thoroughly enjoy just having quality time with them.
Aside from spending time with my family, I like to fill my cup with running, shopping, reading and baking (chocolate chip cookies are my fav!). I unashamedly admit that I'm a homesteader wannabe--I'm in year 2 of gardening and we have our second flock of hens!
Something that brings me joy like no other is a sunset- I absolutely love them!
So if you ever ask me what's the best time for a session, you already know I'm going to suggest golden hour.
My family is the most important thing to me, so it's no surprise that I take pictures frequently. My pictures are visible pieces of my heart, so you can trust me when I say that I know how valuable and irreplaceable a picture can be.
Working with me
I take it very seriously when you book with me. To trust me on your wedding day is honorable. It is such an intimate milestone in your relationship and I'm always happy to be a part of it! As for a family session, I am so grateful to capture moments that become a freeze frame for you.
As soon as I get the notification that I've received an inquiry, I check the date to see if I'm available. If I am available, you will hear from me shortly (within a business day). I send over an email that includes my investment & info guide, a few questions and details for you to fill out (this helps me better understand your vision and if we're a good fit to work together) and a scheduler for a consult meeting! Once we decide if we'll make a good team, I will be alongside you up until your date. I will check in with location ideas for your engagement session, outfit guides, see if you need any vender recs and even help with wedding day timelines!
During the time I'm capturing, I simultaneously stay organized while also being easy going. My work doesn't stop after I put my camera away. I take pride in my quick turnaround with previews for you--yes, even weddings! You can expect a fully edited preview gallery within a day!
Most importantly, I value your time and vision. When I work with you, I'm focused on your vision and what you want out of your photos!
